About Geoff
Geoff Weigand – legendary Australian rock-climber, developer, coach and elite multisport athlete. A global climbing figure and one of the original developers of the sport of rock and competition climbing, was one of the world’s leading climbers for two decades, climbing extreme first and solo ascents on 3 continents as well as competing in the first international and pre – Olympic climbing event championships.
Weigand, not only a visionary climber, is also a multi-discipline coach and performance consultant, successfully coaching elite swimmers, mountain bike racers, alpine-climbers, road cyclists and ballet dancers at all stages of development. One of the first people to study and integrate sport science into the art of climbing and other disciplines, he was also one of the first to actively address cognitive dynamics as a major factor in achieving maximum performance. His expanded performance concept, Cognitive Performance™ also includes training athletes to effectively employ intuitive feedback in maximizing their performance. He is bringing this proven approach to individuals and groups committed to bringing this Olympian excellence into their lives.
Along with his work as an athlete and coach Weigand was also instrumental in the development of professional climbers becoming technical design consultants within specialty climbing and outdoor industries working with many companies – as a technical product developer, climbing gym – program designer, project manager and outdoor industry consultant.
Since retiring as a professional athlete Mr. Weigand has grown his interests beyond athletics and human performance to include founding technology and education companies with diverse interests in learning technology and personal security solutions and non-profit organization founder.
